Ackchually this guy is easy to sell
There's a funny Internet meme about the Ackchually guy. It is spelled in a non-standard way to point out how funny it is. This guy is also referred to as Galaxy-Brain.
And we understand why he exists. This is the guy who always interjects a bit of trivia into any conversation that is going on.
It is often done in a way that corrects another speaker and is often an interruption.
Now we all do it so I'm not throwing stones, ackchually.
I'm just pointing out that for some reason people have a deep need to feel smart. And to be recognized for being smart.
So as marketers who address our customer's emotional triggers we give them what they want.
And there are three ways to do this, Number one we do it ackchually by being smart ourselves. By having a product or service that is perhaps ahead of it's time or high quality or offers some kind of advantage. People will buy an advantage.
Number two, our customer can be smart by the purchase of the item. That is once they possess the thing that is smart in itself they’ll acquire that intelligence.
Is not true of course. It is a form of superstition. But people will buy for example in the old days they would buy classical music or impressive looking books and consume neither of them. But they think it makes them smart.
Number three the way for customer to be smart is to talk about the fact that they bought your thing. It would be best if they ackchually used it but that is not always the case.
We want to give our customer an opportunity to be smart. This is ackchually a very savvy emotional trigger. Because what we're doing is making them part of the transaction.
And began my example of the Traeger grill. When someone buys that thing they get too brag They get to show off. They get to \to demonstrate the superior cooking quality or process of whatever that thing doubts.
This is a reason for many years why people were in that technology arms race.
They would buy the latest phone or computer or operating system or nowadays I guess it's the electric car.
A lot of this is driven by the need to demonstrate that they are smart. Some of it is just keeping up with others. They don’t want to fall behind.
But the reason for the arms race of things like technology or vehicles or let’s say consuming ridiculous items on the Internet is that everyone is a silent race to stay ahead. Why, I don't know. However, it is a fact, and we cater to it.
